Shirts in the Closet
Shirts in the Closet : Saleem Sameja
Shirts in the Closet : The shirts hang in quiet stillness, each fold and pattern holding a story of my uncle. Their physical presence is undeniable, yet they are no longer worn, empty, waiting, almost frozen in time. These garments are a trace of him and the life he lived in them. There is a haunting beauty in this image: the shirts are found as tangible reminders, holding his core in fabric and thread. But they also reflect the absence of the person who gave these clothes purpose and life. The closet becomes a space. The closet becomes a space of memory, a small archive of identity. It reflects the duality of loss: the ache of absence and the comfort of what remains. Each shirt becomes a relic of him, speaking to his presence even in his absence.
